recently even venu has been wanting me to come to his office everyday. i had gone to his office after mixing on 24th. earlier day we had gone to pune to attend the premier of a marathi film, 'foriegnchi patilinee'. the movie started on time. the stars had arrived. this film boosts of a first in marathi films. it has a foriegn heroine (a Russian girl). the theatre was too hot and stuffy for me. so i stepped out after a litte while. it was nice a cool outside. all cloudy. suddenly i realised that i was very close to SP College, where i stayed in my first year of FTII. itook an auto and went there. soon i was able to find it. i was very happy. and i thought that i will ask venu and shyam babu to come here and take some pictures. i went in and peeped in. my room had been turned into an office. one man was sitting on a desk and was talking on phone.
Venu is planning to make his earlier telefilm 'yashoda' into a movie. there are 2 options in front of him. first one is to approach Shayam Benegal and ask him to do it in Hindi. if he says sorry, them ask Pradip director of marathi film to make it in marathi. i guess he wants me to get involved in this project. so i have been doing so. venu has not been fun to work as for money is concerned. he has never thought of compensating me professionally for work.
but i too have an angle here. i want to get introduuced to shyam benegal through him and try my luck his upcoming film Buddha. so he has already taken appointment from Shaym Benegal about this. i will accompany him for this meeting obviously and will state my desire to Benegal about letting me a part of Buddha, if he can.
audio mixing of Kasturi Kundal Basey has started here in Mumbai. i had worked for a few hours on 24th may but on sunday 25th i worked from 2pm to 9pm. i had imagined that all the 'post' work may be done in Delhi including mixing. i have not been in this ambience for long. last time it was in Plus and Maya. the mixing is being done on Avid, so basically i am instructing operator to balance the 2 tracks. good thing is that i am working along with editor aseem sinha. it has never happened earlier we both being in the editing room together. after work we all walked down to shreeji restaurant and had bhel. it made me so full that i had to waste some.
yesterday mario jean and beena were at home for dinner. prateek did not come home from work. kalika and ravi walked after dinner around 11pm. i went to sleep at 12 and ravi was still there. i dont know what time he left. i slept in kid's room.
today again i reached at 12 noon. speed was much better today. we did 3 complete episodes. tomorow will be last day in this editing room. today also we had snacks at shreeji. aseem was there in the end.

I wrote 3 blog peices in a space of 4 days. Before this I hadn't writen for long. Don't feel like writing. And when I don't feel like it i don't push myself. I feel good that whenever I feel I am not going to do well writng a particluar peice, i do come out much better than i expect.

Today, May 3, is my anniversary@bombay. I have now completed 36 years of professional life in this dream city. I have writen about it a few times. But there have been no instances when I remembered "this day, on this day", to be able to enjoy, call people over, celebrate it like an anniversary or to... just reflect. Thankfully I am aware of it from morning itself. Let us see how does it culminate by evening. I guess now this day carries much more importance than my birthday.

After saying 'bye' to all at home, I came out to the waiting taxi. I kept my bag and gift packets in the back seat of the, locked both the back doors and sat next to the driver; time - 3pm. Summer heat, heat of taxi engine, humidity and afternoon were making it a cool endurance test. I like endurance tests. Traffic was quite thin. Taxi was at Bandra at 3.20 and meter showed 7.10. Reaching Bandra in 20 min. is most unlikely. It always takes one hour and more.
At Mahim creek humidity grew even more, due to proximity with sea, strong sea breeze and Mithi river. Reached Mahim church at 3.24 (meter- 8.10). From here taxi turned left to Tulsi Pipe road. All the encroachment has gone. I had seen the huts being broken. Today some women were washing clothes and others generally resting under small trees, to beat the heat. BMC has managed to keep those ugly slum structures away, for now. Reached Dadar at 3.29 (meter- 10.40). Taxi kept speeding on the most unlikely empty roads of city and passed Phoenix mills at 3.35 (meter- 12.80). Surprisingly in just one minute, at 3.36, we were at Famous Studios and at 3.39 at Saat Rasta. Taxi entered Mumbai Central at 3.44 (meter- 14.80), total cost about 192.
There was enough time. Scheduled departure time of Rajdhani is 4.40. Decided to unwind for a while. Sat down in the huge waiting lounge, with high ceiling. Just gaped around at people waiting, resting eating. Kids playing, crying, bold over made up women and scared just married village couples. Clicked some pictures of the energy flowing. In my coach B2 at 3.55.
